The ChromeCater DSD2 is a heated double sauce dispenser for ice cream and dessert shops, snack bars, cinemas, food trucks, cafés and buffet setups that serve warm sauces and toppings. It holds 2 x 2.5L, in two bowls side by side, and each bowl has its own temperature control from 30°C to 80°C to keep the sauces warm while you serve.
It is full stainless steel, with two 304 stainless steel pumps.
Ideas for what to serve
Use it for sauces and toppings such as:
- Nacho cheese sauce for nachos, hot dogs and burgers
- Hot fudge, chocolate sauce and caramel toppings for ice cream, waffles and desserts
- Chilli and other hot condiments
Bowls and pumps
Each of the two bowls measures 175mm x 150mm and holds 2.5L. Each sauce dispenser pump is 304 stainless steel.
Water bath heating
The DSD2 double sauce dispenser uses water bath (bain-marie) heating to keep the sauces warm. It has two 400W heating units, one for each bowl, and each bowl has its own temperature control with 6 settings, from 30°C to 80°C. You can set each bowl to suit its sauce.
Not for melting chocolate
The DSD2 warms sauces for serving, but it is not suitable for melting chocolate. To melt chocolate, use a chocolate stove such as the BM-2D chocolate and caramel stove.
Power, size and weight
It runs on 220 to 240V, 50 to 60Hz and draws 0.8kW. It measures 400mm x 200mm x 285mm and weighs 5.8kg net (6.4kg packed).
Single or double
The DSD2 double sauce dispenser keeps two sauces warm at once, each with its own temperature control. For one sauce, the SSD1 single sauce dispenser holds 2.5L in one bowl with one pump and draws 0.4kW.
Using the water bath
Do not run the DSD2 without water, and do not submerge the heating element or any electrical parts in water. To fill the water bath, lift out the sauce bowls, fill the water bath to about a quarter of its capacity, then put the sauce bowls back in. More water than that will overflow when the bowls go back in.
Water evaporates while the unit is on, so check the water level regularly and top it up as needed. Too little water stops the sauce heating evenly.
Heat the sauce before you pump
The pumps will not work properly until the sauce has heated through, so let it warm up before service. The pump spout gets hot while the unit is on, so handle it with heat-resistant gloves.
Cleaning
Clean and dry the DSD2 after each use. Use a soft cloth and mild soap on the outside, with no metal scouring pads or strong abrasives. Take the pumps apart and wash all the parts with soap and water between uses.
